Ernest's Story
11-30-2010;
I can't begin to tell you how flattered and excited I was when Roy Tom called to say he was coming to visit in PA, AND was bringing Mr. Graves along. They only spent the weekend in late October, but we had a great time. Never stopped talking the whole visit. We took a driving tour of the Amish country and Roy adopted a new name, Enoch, and Mr. Graves became Jacob! Visited the Liberty Bell as well. Generally just caught up on our lifes. If some of you had a ringing in your ears on a weekend in late October it likely was because we were talking about you!!! Lots of yearbook looking and I was even able to find my notebooks from Vo. Ag. I, II & III. If I've kept them you can imagine the other clutter I have kept - - and moved all around the country!
Merry Christmas and best New Years wishes to everyone!
The Ernie Inmon Story
ÃÂÃÂÃÂÿ After graduating Powderly-Reno High School attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas
o Earned two very important things there:
ÃÂÃÂÃÂÿ Bachelor degree, Agricultural Economics
ÃÂÃÂÃÂÿ Wife, Claudia, married in 1972
ÃÂÃÂÃÂÿ Have two sons, Matt and Brian, both graduates of University of Arizona. Matt & wife Megan live in Phoenixville, PA. Matt joined U. S. Axle (more about that later) in February '08 where he nows serves as Sales Manager, and Megan is a Regional Account Manager for an AOL subsidiary called PATCH. They have one daughter, Lauren, born in 2010. Brian and wife Denise live in Maple Grove, (Minneapolis), MN with granddaughter Abby and grandson Evan, and granddaughter Cate,where Brian is an HR Manager for Applebee's Resturants in MN. His wife Denise continues her job at General Mills Headquarters, handling the Yoplait Yogurt product line.
ÃÂÃÂÃÂÿ Out of college I started my career in manufacturing with Paris Milling Company a regional animal feed company. My most formative experience was gained from my third employer, Anderson, Clayton & Co. (ACCO). I joined them in 1979. This experience established my management values, philosophy and style. Respect, integrity and trust were cornerstones of the company and were supported with disciplined management reporting and planning processes. I believe that coupling respect, integrity and trust with properly informed, motivated and enabled employees is the combination to success.
ÃÂÃÂÃÂÿ In 1986 ACCO was bought by Quake...Expand for more
r Oats in a hostile takeover. Paymaster Oil Mill Company, the subsidiary where I worked was sold and then two years later resold to a competitor, Archer Daniels Midland. I went to work for a competing company, Chickasha Cotton Oil, headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona and owned by a Japanese trading company.
ÃÂÃÂÃÂÿ I left Chickasha in 1997 and moved to the Philadelphia area to manage a leather tanning company headquartered in King of Prussia, PA, the worldÃÂÃÂÃÂÿs third largest supplier of leather to automotive manufacturers. This experience allowed me to validate my belief that good management skills and experience are transferable. This company was a unique mix of the traditional processing of skins, the romantic product of leather and the hard cold world of automotive manufacturing.
ÃÂÃÂÃÂÿ After about 4 years the tanning company was sold to a venture capital group and not being of a financial background they turned me out in 2001. I spent almost two years seeking my next work experience and after deciding to seek an equity opportunity on my own we were very blessed to find a manufacturing company in Pottstown, PA called U. S. Axle, Inc. Claudia and I were able to buy the company as it was a turnaround situation. Again, we have been blessed as the company has turned around and is growing at a gratifying rate. Hence, our son Matt coming on board. We manufacture large precision axles and shafts for industrial applications in mining, drilling, agriculture/forestry and transportation. You can look us up on the web for more detail on what we do.
ÃÂÃÂÃÂÿ Claudia and I currently reside in West Chester, PA, about 30 minutes west of Philadelphia, where Claudia keeps a watchful eye on me and keeps our household running smoothly and comfortably. Our only objection is being so far from our grandchildren in Minnesota. Otherwise we enjoy being close to Philadelphia, New York City, Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD, Atlantic City, NJ, Lancaster, PA (Amish Country) and the Chesapeake Bay, where we keep our fly-bridge cruiser. We live in sort of a rural village setting with four distinct seasons, mild winters and lots of wildlife.
ÃÂÃÂÃÂÿ I have so many great memories of Powderly and regret that I donÃÂÃÂÃÂÿt get back there for visits. I am committed to rectifying that soon. Hope to renew connections with lots of folks at that time.
