Etta's Story
Greetings: Telling my story, Wellllllll I entered Shaker Hgts. High in 1966 after moving to Ohio with my Mom and younger brother. It was a cultural shock after coming from a semirural area in an African-American community. I was shy and frightened of this environment and seemed to be confused as I was constantly going up the down staircase.
Fond memories for me was meeting Sue Bruell, my History teacher, Ms. Lungmus, the apple machines, my counselor, Ms. Bonthius, and graduation day.

ogy and Anthropology. In 1973 I entered the University of Cincinnati majoring in Urban Planning. I did not complete the program as I met the love of my life who was playing with some white rats in a research project at the University. Anyway, I am a Mother and Grandmother and presently living in Detroit, Michigan. I am very involved in the Urbsn Gardening movement in Detroit and enjoying my grandchildren.
I am also the family historian documenting my family history. I love creative writing and have written a number of poems and children's stories.
