Eugenia's Story

Hi I remember so little about those years at Crane and even less about my school mates. The few people I knew lived in the same projects as I did. I think about not being able to participate in extra curricular activities or attend any of the school's sports games. And often of not having a formal graduation. I left Crane in 67 due to family issues. I managed to pass the G E D exam a year later, ironically and un-ceremoniously on the same date I left school. I remember wondering that day, if I'd ever get to go to college and live on a campus. That didn't happen. However I did enrolled in Harold Washington's junior college downtown many years later. But I can still feel the sting when I'm around college educated individuals. I envy those of you who made it through I joined this site hoping somebody would submit a year book. If I had one I would gladly submit it. Because I now know how important it can be. I'm thinking if I had visuals, I'll be able to accomplish re-capturing this part of my past. Apparently of all the people who was there between 1964 and 1968 and who are also on this site, no one has decided to do so. I couldn't afford a y...Expand for more
ear book back then. It was a very difficult time for my family. According to this site no year book was submitted for Crane between 1961 and 1984. I tried to look up how to submit a year book, so that I could past this information on at the same time I'm sending this message. Hoping someone with a year book for 1964, 65, 66, 67 and 68 would consider submitting them. I included 64 because I don't remember what time of year the year book pictures were taken. I had asked about the process and if Class Mates provide insurance and have yet to hear back from them. One would think if they're asking for originals, they would also offer some type of compensation in the event something happens to your book during transport. Due to the length its taking them to respond to my questions, it is a risk I now strongly advise, not to take. However I would love to communicate via this site, with anyone who might be interested in talking about those days or meeting up. For those of you who live out of state. I also love to travel since I retired from the State of Illinois after almost 39 years of service. So far in the last week I've had 21 silent visitors.
