Eugene (Gene)'s Story
Life
Gene is a Vice President of Client Development at Capital IQ since 2002. He works with investment banks, hedge funds and private equity firms and top corporate institutions as well as professional service firms selling data, research and workflow resources. Most recently, before joining Capital IQ, he served as a consultant with Nova Capital Partners, a New York-based investment bank. Prior to that, Mr. Souther was a Business Development Executive with Internet Broadcasting Systems, Inc. the company leading the convergence of local TV and the Internet. At IBS, Mr. Souther worked with major broadcasters and media and Internet companies, specializing in strategic planning, sales and marketing, as well as advising the adoption and development of IBS' unique convergence advertising opportunities. Prior to IBS, Mr. Souther was a salesman in the Fixed Income group at Lehman Brothers, with responsibility for the Yankee banks. Mr. Souther also spend several years, both in New York and in London, as a Legal Assistant with Shearman & Sterling, working on LBO, M&A, bankruptcy and privatization transactions. Mr. Souther was graduated with a B.A. in English from Lehigh University in 1989 and with an M.B.A. from Fordham University's Graduate School of Business Administration in 2000. At Fordham, he received several honors, including the Dean's Award for Academic Excellence (for earning a 4.0 GPA), as well as the MBA Student Leadership Award. He was also a member of the Alpha Mu Alpha and the Beta Gamma Sigma honorary fraternities. Mr. Souther currently serves as Secretary of Fordham's Graduate School of Business Administration Alumni Association Board of Directors and is a past President of the Association. He also represents Fordham to the New York Business Schools Club (NYBSC), and serves on the Board of Governors of MBA Corps. He resides in New York City with his wife Lori and their daughter Reilly.
