Eva's Story
Life
It seems like I've been in school all my life. I keep going back for one thing or another. I started college at Miami (Oxford)in 1957, moved to California in 1958, married and had a daughter, and took classes at UC Berkeley.
My daughter and I moved back to Troy in 1964 where I took classes at Wright State at night. I started teaching elementary music at Xenia in 1967. Then in 1970 we moved to Athens where I completed my first degree in Music Ed. at Ohio University. I
taught music in Jackson, Ohio until 1980 when I remarried and returned to OU full time to complete a Master's Degree in Special Ed (LD/ED) and helped my husband run a pizza restaurant. I taught supervised student teachers for OU and taught sped classes at Athens High School and Chauncey Elem. (In the meantime we sold the restaurant and bought a carryout store.)
In 1994 I moved to Napa, Calif. to be with my daughter and grand-daughter for a while. I started teaching an emotionally disturbed class at that time. (And of course, back to school for more classes in sp.ed.) I taught children with emotional problems for most of the next ten years.

e merit of selling everything and starting over at our age. I loved what I was doing and where I was doing it!)
When my daughter moved to Phoenix, she begged me to make the move. In December, 2003 she convinced me to make the move. I have been in Chandler, AZ. since January, 2004, and I love it here. My arthritis still bothers me, but not as badly as it did, and I have made it through the summers without too much stress.
I taught a Learning Disabilities Resource Room in Mesa for 2 years and then decided it was time to retire, which I did in May, 2006. But I was so bored with staying home by the middle of August that I called the Sub Office and asked them to put me on the list. I usually sub 2-3 days a week and also work with one or two homebound students each semester. I plan to contine this routine for the remainder of my life.
I am having double knee replacement surgery in November this year. Everyone assures me that this will change my life for the better. I hope so. I am tired of not being able to move like I used to and I am fed up with pain. I want to be able to walk and ride a bike again!
My daughter has remarried, my granddaughter is growing up and life is GOOD!
