My Spouse
I met Doug during a trip to Amarillo with one of my sorority sisters. We went to her church Sunday morning and honestly I met 30 or so people. I remember 3... Doug was not one of them. The next month we again went to Amarillo and did the same thing. Still don't remember him. Between then (Oct) and Thanksgiving we (myself and one of the guys I DID remember) were planning a fun weekend for myself and some other friends (also from Alaska... though I didn't know them before going to Wayland) during Thanksgiving weekend. I would call and occasionally Doug would answer the phone, or my friend would say "Doug says Hi" and I'd return the greeting.
The day we got into town Cameron,the friend I'd been planning with, called Doug and asked him to go with him to where we were staying because he (Cam) had a crush on one of my friends and wanted Doug to run interference with the rest of us girls. d some time during the movies Doug and I just "clicked".
He proposed to me Jan. 1988, and though we broke our engagement for about 3-4 months during the late summer of that year, we were married in May of 1989.
My Pets
We have 3 dogs, Harlee(a solid white German Shepherd), Pepper (a dalmation), and Marley(a mutt).
All these dogs were just given to us except Pepper, we found him as a puppy.
We have 3 cats. Batenstein (goes by Bat),a siamese named Cap'n Hook He just wandered into our home.
And recently we have brought into the house another cat who tried to get run over under our car... it was very cold and he was abandoned or lost.
In the backyard we have 5 ducks They are a joy to sit and watch. The ducks frolic in the half kiddie wading pool. The backyard menagerie are pets and egg layers, so all of them have a treasured life.
My Kids
My boys are growing like weeds. When did they get to be so big??
Both are in Boy Scouts and are quite busy with that program as well as church.
