Evan's Story
Life
In college I worked as a diesel mechanic, waiter, and telephone & computer cabling technician-basically anything I could do to get by.
I graduated from App State in Dec '97 with a BA in Economics and Business minor. I worked several different jobs until I found an industry that suited me the best-the Heavy Construction Industry. The people are very REAL. I love to hear and smell diesel engines run...
I worked for Carolina Tractor & Equipment for a couple of years while I was working on my MBA at UNC-Charlotte. For the first eight months with CTE I was an assistant supervisor over 20 guys from 18 to 55 years old in their component rebuild area where we rebuilt diesel engines, transmissions, torque converters, fuel systems, and such. r service departemnt for four months. Then in November '99 I moved to Asheville, NC to work as CTE's project manager at the I-26 project extending the interstate through the mountains north of Mars Hill, NC to Erwin, TN. I transferred to the MBA program at Western Carolina Univ. and intended on staying in the area to finish the program until I met some older guys at our site who had lived and worked all over the world and had some really great adventures to tell about. So I applied with a couple of corporations that could give me global experience.
To make a long story short, I work with Caterpillar, Inc and have lived in Chicago, now Miami Beach. I' be here for 10-12 mos and then move to Puerto Rico or Monterray, Mexico. I constantly work with and have friends who are from all over the world-Japan, Canada, Brazil, Germany, and all parts of the U.S. It's a lot of fun.
