Faye's Story

Life I married between my junior and senior years in high school. I had to change from O'Keefe HS to Avondale HS to be able to graduate. You couldn't openly be married and attend school in the Atlanta City Schools in those days. After nine and a half years and three children, my husband ran off with my youngest daughter's Sunday School teacher. After going through so much pain, I finally prayed the prayer I had always been taught, "Let Your Will Be Done." After that, a peace came over me that I had never felt. I couldn't change what had happened, but I could now accept it and go on raising our three children. But, God had His own plans for our lives. He sent us a wonderful man just a few weeks after my divorce was final. Frank Kingsland needed us just as much as my children and I needed him. Ten weeks after we met, Frank married my three children and me. He said he had found what he was looking for in a family, and fifteen months later we completed our family with another son. He has been a wonderful husband and Dad, and we feel very blessed to have him in our lives. He adopted my first three children in 1971. Our oldest son expressed it very well when he said he was glad that the divorce happened because we wouldn't have Dad if it hadn't. H...Expand for more
e also said that his Dad's the best man he has ever known. I was a stay-at-home Mom for many years, but went to work part-time in 1984 at the Home Mission Board for the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). When my part-time job was ended, I went to work full-time. I retired in 1997 from the Home Mission Board, now the North American Mission Board. I worked for YouthLink 2000 which was a special event sponsored by the SBC, and joined the staff of the Atlanta Baptist Association after YouthLink was ended. I "retired" again in 2001. I have always enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, knitting, crocheting, and lots of other things like that. I love doing most crafts, and I'm especially enjoying designing and making jewelry now. Frank and I enjoy traveling and spending time with our family. We are now expecting the grandchild that will make us have a baker's dozen. What blessings they are! I have kept in close contact with lots of friends from my school years. I especially enjoy being an Atlanta native and going on a scenic tour when we go downtown. It's a surprise every time we go there because of all the changes. I'm not too sure I like most of the changes, and I know I don't like the crowds. I miss the old stores downtown, especially Rich's.
