Fern's Story
Life
After graduating Brooklyn College, I got married a few months later and then moved to Florida. I taught school in a Headstart Center for 6 1/2 years, located in Miami. I had a son, and stayed home for a short while. My husband and I opened up a Medical center for about 1 1/2 years. We then sold the business, had a daughter, and I worked part-time for a dental office as an office manager. After this, I started working for my husband's business (fiberglass) as office manager. e-located in Sandusky, Ohio. I took a few classes at the local college to update my teaching certificate. I substituted for a few schools until a permanent job opened. I became a juvenile correction's officer for the county detention center for 11 1/2 years. After I left, I opened a small restaurant, specializing in home-made pizza, gyros, etc... After 1 1/2 years, I decided to sell or close the restaurant. I am now retired for about 2 years. I plan on working with my husband on a second business he is in the process of opening.
