Ferrell Wellman:  

I spent my life doing what I liked in high school; working in radio and television. I was a radio reporter in Lexington, Norfolk, Va., and Louisville. I worked as a reporter/videographer for WAVE-TV in Louisville, and was assigned to the State Capitol for 17 years. I covered the governor, state politics and the big statewide story of the day. I reported from all 120 counties in Kentucky and had more than 150 stories used by NBC. I left WAVE in 1991 and returned to school to earn a master's degree in mass communications at the University of South Carolina. I taught for one year at USC; another year at Georgia Southern and returned to Kentucky to teach at Eastern Kentucky University, where I stayed 16 years until I retired from academia in 2010. I still host a weekly public affairs program on Kentucky Educational Television, 'Comment on Kentucky'. I've also worked as the election-night political analyst for WLEX-TV in Lexington since 2000.
