Filomena's Story
Life
I grew up in the military and spent the first 16-1/2 years hopping all over the globe. In high school, I left Okinawa in 1977 - not by choice - and ended up in Arkansas, where my father retired from the Air Force. Since then, college, marriage (27 years now), four daughters - one married with 3 children - and now living in the northern U.S. I work in Early Childhood Education with young families who have children birth to three years.
Workplace
I have been working for the local educational...Expand for more
service center with families who have children aged birth to 3 years from 1997 to present. I visit the families in their homes throughout my county and provide developmental information, age-appropriate activities, encourage literacy, watch for delays or disabilities, etc. We refer to outside agencies within the community as needed. The job is part education, part medical, part social work. And there's tons of paperwork. Good record-keeping is a must as one never knows when a subpeona will show up!
