Life After graduating from Century High I worked at Lock and Dam #53 in Grand Chain during the summer of 1966. I then moved to Rockford, Ill and worked at Elco Tool Company for several months before accepting a position at the Veterans Administration Hospital in North Chicago. I worked there as a Nurse Assistant until September 1967 when I joined the U.S. Air Force. I served in the USAF twenty-five (25) years. My assignments after Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas were: Randolph AFB,Texas (1967-1970); Phu Cat Air Base, Viet Nam (1970-1971); Soesterberg AB, The Netherlands (1971-1973); Tinker AFB, Oklahoma (1973-1976); Ramstein AB, Germany (1977-1981); Goodfellow AFB,Texas (1981-1982); Incirlik AB, Turkey (1982-1983); Rhein Main AB, Germany (1983-1986); Langley AFB, Virginia (1986-1989); Hahn AB, Germany (1989-1992); Charleston AFB, South Carolina (August-October 1992). I enjoyed my military career and would change very few things I did during that time if I had to live those days again. I view my time in the military as a great educational experience that no school could possibly teach or duplicate. After leaving the military I worked at The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina, eighteen (18) months. My wife was offered and accepted a position in Charlotte, North Carolina.
