More about Frances:"I went to G'dale Elem & Jr High, Jordan High, Tarrant High, back to G'dale High to graduate. Was Frances Perkins Powell then. Married long time Drag Racer, Wayne Sides. Spent a lot of time on Lassiter Mountain having fun with cars & friends.
I was raised in Gardendale, Al. I married (Mickey Powell) at the end of my junior high year at Mortimer Jordan & had my daughter(Angie) ten months later. She brought me great joy. I then went back & graduated my senior year.1st semester at G'dale & 2nd semester at Tarrant. I had a son (Bret) two years later that only lived 19 months because of a birth defect. He was my gift from God for the 19 months he lived. I then had my third child,(Carla Sue) a beautiful girl, who I love and with her sister, kept me from losing my mind when my son passed away. I then divorced & lived with my two girls for about 17 months. I remarried (Wayne Sides) & had a fourth child (Cindi) whom I love dearly. God blessed me with my children and my husband. Then came the other blessings, my grandkids(8) & greatgrandsons(2) and a new greatgranddaughter on June 21, 2011! They are my loves as I grow ol...Expand for more
der. I now live in Wilsonville, on Lay Lake (Coosa River) I don't get to spend much time on the lake/river now cause my husband is hurt & can't go out in the boat anymore. But I do so love to be on the water and would be there often if I could. I love my town & it's people & my church, Wilsonville Baptist. If any of you are looking for a church that will love & care about you, this church is where it is happening. I look back on my life and thank God for all he has done for me. He allowed me to spend a lot of time with my husband & family & friends at different dragstrips around the south as we had a lot of fun & good times with friends dragracing & going to car shows. We lived at Clay, Al for thirteen years before we moved to Wilsonville. We lived in East Lake near the Airport before that, until the airport bought our house for the runway. I have two sisters, Cheryl Perkins Thornell, Paula Perkins Tillery & a brother Steve Perkins. My mom & dad (Paul & Morene Perkins) still live in G'dale. I now have 8 grandkids and 3 greatgradkids! Some of my cousins live in Mt. Olive & G'dale still. I love my friends and family & wish I could be with all of them more. I like to sew, quilt, and do needlework when I am able to do it. I love to leisurely boat ride, read books, garden when I can, and I love to ride my tractor when I am able to get up on it. I love being retired, I only wish I was physically able to do the things I enjoy so much. I love keeping in touch with people I love that I have not seen in quite some time by the internet. It has opened up a whole world of folks I have met thru the years & have come to love. Friends & family mean the world to me & I thank God for his blessings on me in this regard.".
