Frances's Story

I have had a great life so far! I continued on in school and received my Bachelor Science of Nursing at the University of Western Ontario. Met my future husband, Brian Thomson, in my first week in University. He was at Althouse Teachers College then and has just retired from teaching in Feb,2009. After getting my Nursing Masters degree I went on to teach Obstetrics to Diploma Nurses at Loyalist College in Belleville for several years. Brian and I have two daughters; Hillary (married and living in Toronto), and Virginia,(living in Calgary). We just got home from a visit to Calgary to see our youngest daughter last week. After teaching nursing for eight years I became a public health nurse in Kingston for 20 years. During thi...Expand for more
s time I was also responsible for the Queen's University Nursing Students rotation experience through their Semesters at the Public Health Unit. I have since retired in 2007 and I have been volunteering to help the primary school teachers by working on Dolce Word Lists to children having difficulty reading. This volunteer position is at the school my daughters attended in Belleville. I love the kids! I am just about to leave and visit my girlfriend of 55 years in Baltimore, Maryland. We get together annually for about a month and share our stories, We met, while children, at our respective cottages in Brights Grove (near Sarnia) where we stayed the entire summer swimming and biking at the Lake Huron resort town. What absolute bliss....
