Frances's Story
I am the daughter of Frances Livingston Snell who was born in Chicago on March 20,1928. She never much talked about her childhood, said there was no need to dwell on the sad past. I am providing the little I have to you in hopes I can give my children and grandchildren a wonderful picture of my mom when she was little.She has passed and I live in Virginia so at a disadvantage a bit. aid you can see the stature going into the city from the southside. it was red brick. My Uncle was SAMUEL CHARLES SNELL born 6-30-1930 was her only full sibling but her neice Judy was raised with them as a sibling. Uncle Sammy went into the army at 17. My grandmother was FlORENCE SNELL married to SAMUEL SNELL and They had a little store for a time and the family live upstairs.Mom left no records to speak of but i remeber her talking about 59th and shields. so dont know if that was where they lived or what. does any of this sound familiar???? I started her because St Martins is really the only thing I recall her talking about. I have looked around online and hope this is the right St Martins.
