Francis's Story
Life's been interesting after Holy Cross. I went on to College at the University of Dayton (B.A. 1969) got married right after graduation and worked as a special education teacher in Philadelphia from 1969 -1972 - where I learned that teaching was not my forte. Went to law school from 1972-1975 (J.D. New England School of Law 1974; LL.M. (International Law) Harvard Law School 1975) Had six children between 1970 and 1980 and got divorced in 1987. Remarried in 1991.
In 1980, although still remaining in private practice in Washington, D.C., I was appointed by President Carter and confirmed by the U.S. Senate as a United States Commissioner to settle the claims of U.S. citizens and corporations against the Peoples Republic of China and East Germany. Once these claims were successfully settled, I established my own law firm, Jung & Vassar, P.C., w...Expand for more
ith offices in Washington, D. C. in 1985 and Kailua-Kona, Hawaii in 1991.
While also maintaining my private law practice, between 1992 and 2010, I was appointed by Governor Lingle and confirmed by the Hawaii State Senate to serve on a number of state corporate boards as a director in the areas of health care and affordable housing. I moved from Hawaii to Florida in 2021and currently reside in Bonita Springs, Florida with my wife Carol, who is also a lawyer. We both still practice law in Hawaii but remotely by Zoom from Florida. Our practice is primarily centered on real estate development, home owner associations, international law and civil litigation. Hobbies include listening to good music, good dining, dancing, golf, snorkeling and travel. That's about it, Still hoping to make a difference, Life is good. Best wishes to all my Classmates.
