Frank's Story
Life Greetings to all.
As you know I fled from Merced to Colorado for school then to the USAF. I did 6 years as a pilot in the Air Force doing all sorts of fun things (chasing & catching typhoons, flying in fog, being shot at over Cambodia, etc.). I exited and returned to grad school for the next 5 years (I kept changing fields once I was granted several degrees).
I spent the years 1980 through 1995 running in the rat race in Silicon Valley in California, pursuing careers, connections and money. During that time, I worked for the government, private companies, small consulting firms, and family. I went from being a scientist in image processing, to marketing and sales.
I left sales to became a trainer in my wife's company in 1995, and slowed down the work to become a home dad. We adopted a 3 year old from China in '95, and I found that being a part time ho...Expand for more
me dad was VERY rewarding. I was able to work part time, and still be home every other week and most weekends.
I moved to Canada (actually, I was just 7 miles north of the 49th parallel) to live on an island off of Vancouver Island in 2004. It was a 2 ferry ride to get from my home to Vancouver (the city, was only 30 miles away as the crow flies), but the setting was magnificent, overlooking the Georgia Strait into the mountains of BC. I home schooled my daughter for the 7th and 8th grades when we moved there, but she re-entered the main stream and skipped 9th. She attended UNBC and is now living and working in San Francisco.
In 2017 we moved to Prescott, AZ in order to get a bit more sun than was available in the PNW. The high altitude and clear skies here are great. The town is the most friendly I have ever experienced, and the town square is wonderful!
