Frank's Story

Life I retired from the US Coast Guard in 1997, started my own marine surveying biz, was bought out, moved to Houston, TX, remarried to a wonderful woman named Marilyn, bought a new home, and reopened my own biz...just a few changes....In July 2004, went to work for the Department of Homeland Security, as a civilian employee of the Coast Guard. My job had me working in Port Security and contingency/emergency management planning type duties. In June 2013, left Federal Government Service and went to work for SBM Offshore as a Project Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) Manager. I resigned from SBM in Dec 2015 and in March 2017 accepted a position with Texas Mutual Insurance as a Safety Services Consultant (adviser). My oldest daughter, Jessica, is married, made me the proud Grandfather of beautiful granddaughter named Claudia and a handsome grandson, Zachary (They live in Fort Walton Beach, FL). Back in January 2017 she was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of Leukemia (AML) and was brought here to Houston for treatment at MD Anderson, the best cancer fighting facility in the world. My youngest daughter Holli is a LVN, living in Portsmouth, VA, married to her high school sweetheart Troy, and they have a son, born during Hurricane Irene in 2011, named William. She works as a home health care provider and is doing well. On 1/13/03, my son, Jonathan Andrew Hawthorne was born! Although 6 weeks premature and only 4 lbs 7 oz, he has done...Expand for more
well by the grace of God and is growing rapidly. He has an extremely infectious smile...he loved his dog Sadie, but sadly we lost her to old age in May 2006. On Oct 28, 2007 we bought a new black + white puppy, a 6 week old English Pointer, her name is Lilly (named by Jonathan). She has turned out to be a very sweet loving pup. Jonathan is now attending John Paul II Catholic School and is doing extremely well.... He is in third grade this year and is "soaking up" the world around him (2013 he is now in 5th). Jonathan is now 14 ½ and completed Pre-K 4 up through 8th Grade at JP2 Catholic School in Houston. He will be a freshman at Katy High School here in Katy, TX this coming year. Coming from a private school with about 70 total class members to a very large public school will be a culture shock for him. We have now lived in our new home for over 11 years, built in Katy, TX and have many new neighbors, including many kids for Jonathan to play with. The once barren development (we were the 5th house finished) has now exploded with more new houses...seems every time it rains, five more house pop up! However, we did add a pool and a spa in 2010 and enclosed it with screen in 2013. We host a BSHS get together annually at our home in Katy and seems like everyone has an enjoyable time. We had to cancel 2017 due to my daughter’s illness but we are ready for next year! So, next year we are scheduled for Saturday, May 5th, 2018 starting around noon!
