Workplaces Taft Union High School 1957 - Started SCUBA Diving 1958 to 1962 - US Navy Electronics Technician - Oceanographic Office, Washington DC Various Jobs - sales, at May Co - LA - Carpenter, Plumber, Electrician, Mechanic, Welder, Machinist 1965 - Certified as a NAUI SCUBA Instructor = part time Instruction 1968 - 1970 - Santa Barbara City College - Marine Diving Technology - As Degree 197o to 1971 - Oceanographic Services - Santa Barbara, CA - Oceanographic, Biological & Ecology Technician 1971-1972 Ocean Systems International, Stavanger, Norway - Commercial Diver - on the Glomar Grand Isle - a 367 foot Drill ship working for Esso - in the Ecofisk Oil field off Norway. Then off Tarfia south of Agader, Morocco. Assembled and dove a Dual-Bell Saturation Diving system using TRIMIX (Nitrogen, Helium &; Oxygen) in 370 feet.. Commercial Pilot Certification - Santa Barbara, CA 1971 to 1973 Marine resources Development Foundation (MRDF) - Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico International Undersea Laboratory - PRINUL - Dive Director for La Chalupa, the largest and most sophisticated Underwater Habitat in the world (now Jules Undersea Lodge in Key Largo Florida) putting five scientist down in between 55 and 106 feet of sea water for two week at a time to do science. Broke my left arm just above the wrist, developed gas gangrene due to medical Malpractice, Left mid-upper arm amputation, suture came off and I bled to death, stood across the ER and watched as 7 pints of blood were "milked" into my body, then I was "jumped started." As soon as the stitches were removed, I went back in the water and continued running the Habitat. Wrote the PRINUL Operations Manual - after I got rid of the arm. On my 4th trip to the pearly gates, I asked the gate guard why they kept sending me back, "You're too much entertainment, get your butt back down there." 6 years post amputation, I requalified for my Commercial Pilot License. 1973 to 1974 - Florida Institute of Technology - School of Marine & Environmental Technology - developed and taught 5 courses - Oceanography Instructor. 1974 to 1975 - Florida Internationa...Expand for more
