Frank's Story

Life As of January 2015: Married father of 5 children (oldest, 26, West Point graduate, and now a Captain in the Army; youngest is 11 years). Two oldest married this year; next oldest engaged; we are also new grandparents! Retired from the Army, working as a civilian contractor, and spent over 5 years between Iraq and Afghanistan. Back home in North Carolina. Missing Long Island A LOT!!!!! I am slightly envious of you who were able to settle down with a family and decent career to be able to remain on the Island. Of course, I had too much travel-lust in my blood---worked, lived, traveled in many different places around the US and Europe. Too much time in the Middle East, although I highly recommend visiting Dubai, it is a wonderful place. Last year we visited Australia and New Zealand---absolutely LOVE both places, especially Australia. Sydney is probably one of the prettiest cities we have ever visited, right up there with San Francisco, Munich, Rome, and Budapest. Janet and I did spend some time in Munich, Garmisch, Innsbruck, Rome, and the Vatican a couple of years ago and even went to dinner at the restaurant in Munich where we had our first date over 28 years ago! My professional interests remain law enforcement, intelligence collection, languages.....eh, my language skills these days are not so good, although we surprised ourselves to find our German was still not too bad when we visited in 2011...Expand for more
. My family always comes first; can't figure out how Janet has put up with me all these years! Children are succeeding--we couldn't ask for better children. It is interesting how you remember things as one gets older. I have not had much contact with folks from high school over the years due to my career. Once or twice a year I get to LI and miss it very much (with the required stops at Krisch's and Alll-American, of course). If there is one regret from my years at Carman Road, McKenna, and then Berner is in not keeping contact with some of you guys and gals. One gal in particular had a hold of my heart throughout elementary, junior high, and high school. I regret not being a better friend and not keeping in touch with her.... Ran into her a few years after graduating Berner, but the conversation was, well, quite brief. I was tongue-tied...as usual...... I have renewed some high school contacts through Facebook. Please hit me up there if you are so inclined. I was unable to make the reunions because each of them found me outside the United States. Now that we have all reached our 22nd anniversary of our 29th birthdays, I am not sure I want anybody to see how I look! LOL! All in all, life has been good to me. A loving family keeps one grounded! Please feel free to drop a line. If you are passing through eastern NC, I am usually available to sit down for lunch, dinner, or a beer/scotch/wine! Frank
