Frank's Story
Hello all!
How can I fit story in so little time without boring you. OK to make a long story short (or in my case, a short story long) I joined the military and left for Navy boot camp in August of 1988. I was stationed onboard the Aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower as an ABH. Talk about a floating city, WOW. For thier website, please visit eisenhower. navy. mil.
Before leaving for boot camp I'd say probably 8 months prior I met this girl briefly through church that soon afterwards, she became my wife. More on that later.
Navy life was different from what I was accustomed to, having been born and raise in East Dallas. Needless to say I adapted to military life and completed my tour of duty with Honorable conditions. I AM an AMERICAN and DAMN PROUD of it. During this time I briefly experienced combat conditions. It was our last day in Italy as we were due to return home to the US of A on August 3rd 1990. As you all know that was the day Iraq invaded Kuwait and so our Battle Group was re-positioned to the Red Sea from the Mediterranian Sea. The Suez Canal transit will forever be the highlight of my life. Egypt on one side and Saudi Arabia on the other. WOW what a sight.
As mentioned I completed my tour of duty in the military and transitioned back...Expand for more
to civilian life in September of 1991.
I put myself through Emergency Medical Tech school and gradutated in April 1992 and earned my certification to work as a medic. I settled in the Wilmer Hutchins area where I also began my career in the Fire Service with the City of Hutchins. You can find some old pics of me in action at hutchinsfirerescue.org. That year was in 1993.
In 1994 my mother passed away on March 16 after having been hospitalized for almost 4 months at Baylor Medical Center. She was buried on my birthday March 18th. She was a wonderful and beautiful woman as well as my life. Thank you mom and grandma. I love you both.
I am blessed to have 3 children Marissa, Matthew and Adrienne who are doing Very Well in school ( that comes from their daddy). We currently live in Haslet Texas where I am Firefighter/Engineer with the Haslet Fire Rescue. There is so much growth in North Fort Worth it is unbelieveable but amazing.
I miss the house and neighborhood that I grew up in on Prospect Ave in the Heart of East Dallas, however I am thankful as well to GOD for where he has placed us.
Thank you for reading along and I look forward to hearing from my old friends.
You may also visit me on my myspace under my name or "Brother Val".
