Fred's Story
Life
I was born in Central, NM (now Santa Clara) in 1947. We moved around quite a bit and in 1957 we wound up in California. I moved from California to Santa Rita, NM in 1960 after my mom died. My brother Chalo, my sister Emma and I went to live with my older sister Susie. I finished grade school in Santa Rita then moved on to high school at Cobre High... I left Cobre in 1964 and joined the Navy. After boot camp and radio school I was sent to Japan until 1968. Shortly after leaving the Navy, I started working for the Navy in a civilian status at the Pacific Missile Test Center, Point Mugu Calif. I started out as a teletypist and wound up as a Test Conductor. I was married in 1972 and have two daughters and a stepson and 9 grandchildren. In 1989 I transferred to White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico and worked as a Range Controller. If you've ever traveled highway 70 between Las Cruces and Alamogordo and got caught in one the road blocks during a missile shoot, and didn't know who to cuss out. Well, I'm guilty. That was one of my jobs. I lived in Alamogordo while working at White Sands. In 1993 I took an early retirement and have been retired ever since. I lost my wife of 28 years to lung cancer in 2000 an am a cancer survivor myself. I then moved to Hurley for a short while. In 2002 I moved to San Antonio, Texas to live with my daughter, Maria. We now live in Bastrop, Texas, a small town between Austin and Houston. Who knows what's next.

In early 2007 I reconnected with Sally Valenzuela on Classmates.com and in Sept of 2007 we got married in Bayard...We lived in Oregon for about 3 months and then moved to Las Cruces...Sadly the marriage ended in June of this year and we are now separated and soon to be divorced...I guess it just wasn't meant to be....Expand for more

(Update):
It is now late April of 2011. In the summer of 2008 Emma and I moved to Silver City where I lived for a little over two years. I have since reconnected with Virginia Gomez, whom I have known since early gradeschool in Santa Clara. We now live together in Bayard in what I consider to be a very loving and satisfying relationship. We get along great and love doing everything together. Our respective families support our relationship and I can say that I am very happy and that I love her deeply and am quite content to be with her for the rest of my life. In the meantime, my grandchildren have given me four new great grand daughters. I'm looking forward to spoiling them big time.
I always wanted to be a professional baseball player when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a pipe dream of an idea. As it turns out, they were right..
At the end of the day I like to sit under the gazebo with a cold beer, a package of chicharrones and slices of Colby Longhorn cheese.
If I won $100 million, I'd give half of it to my children, The rest I would invest, give to charity, buy a new home and a confortable life..
If I had one do-over in my life, I would not have married the second time. Or if I had, I would have married Virginia with whom I am ver happy now.
In 10 years, I hope to be still active and healthy. I'm going to get there by living and loving in a healthy manner..
My oldest friend is Julian Jacquez. I do not even remember how we met, but we were both very young. We were out of touch for many years and reconnected about three years ago. Now we see each other on a regular basis and our friendship is as if we had never been apart. I intend to keep it that way.
