Fred Oakes:  

I moved back to Ohio in 1969 from Bradenton, Florida and spent just my Junior year at Minerva. I opted out of my senior year (70-71) at Minerva High School and ended up spending the extra time at The Ohio State University working on my BS in chemistry for 6 years. The next years were spent at Miami University doing an MS (2 years) and PhD (3 years) degree in Organic Chemistry in 1981. That was followed by a brief 4 year post doctorate at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana doing BioOrganic Chemistry till 1985. In 1984 I married Deborah Blake. In 1985 Jeannette was born to Deborah and me. Later that year I began working at Eastman Kodak Life Sciences Division for 8 years with a one year diversion to Cetus Corp in Emeryville, CA.
