Fred (Skip)'s Story
Life never really began until 1968 when I decided I needed to do something with my life, so I joined the Marine Corps in July of that year. After boot camp I went to Viet-Nam for 12 months. There I was with India Co. 3rd Btln. 26th Marine Reg. serving as a grunt for Uncle Sam until Jan. 1,1970 when I came back to the states and married my high school sweatheart. (Now divorced from) I went to Camp Lejeune, N.C. and was put in the Military Police during the riots of those years. I spent four years in the Corps and got mad at an officer and got out. (I still to this day regret it) I went back to school and got my degree in Police Science. I worked for a Security and D...Expand for more
etective agency for awhile and even ran the company and became a firearms instructor for the state of N.C. But I had to go to the ocean. I commercial fished for a few years and then got a U.S.C.G. 100 ton Masters license and started running fishing charters. I did this for about 30 years but there is no retirement plan in fishing. I now work for the Army Corps of Engineers on 1 of 2 shallow draft sidecast dredges making inlets deeper. It's a good job, I work a week on and a week off. (80 hours in 1 week) I have since got married to a pretty little red headed Italian and now have 2 boys by my first marriage and 4 step children who are like my own and 14 grandchildren.
