Fred's Story
Life
I'm the one that drives the well known Black 1940 Chevy pick up truck with the loud cheater pipes roaming E. Palo Alto in the early 60's. Enlisted in the U.S. Navy '63-'66 aboard aircraft carrier USS Yorktown, Viet Nam, Long Beach, Ca., home port. Went to Los Angeles Trade-Technical College on the G.I. Bill in Auto Mechanics, finished June '68 with Associate of Science degree. Attended San Jose State and started my small Auto Repair business on October l969 in Mtn View, going on 32 years. Married on January '83 at age 38 and never too late. Have 3 great kids, 2 in high school, 9th & 11th, the baby is in 6th grade, the son is the eldest. I'm from Young's Florist & Nursery as you all might know on W. Bayshore & Newell Rd. Grad nite was really great, our theme was Around the World in 80 days, the decorations was well done. I remembered the watermelon that looked like a basket carved out with mixed fresh fruits, very tasty. I won the grand door prize, pocket size RCA "Blue" trans...Expand for more
istor radio from Gregg's TV & Appliance, my lucky number was 98. I was sitting at the table with Gary Yogi Shouse 'quite a dancer!', Jim Garcia's sister and Warren Scott. I recalled before the drawing, Jim's sister have ask me if I win, I would give her the prize, but I didn't say anything, my number came up afterward, lucky me. I think I still have the radio somewhere, it's a 1st "Hi-Tech" radio of its kind back then! Would you believed that I still have the Grad-Nite party ticket in my photo album? Wish we all can go back to those good old days. 40 years will be coming up on June 2002. Our 1st class reunion picnic on June 12, l982 was really unforgetable, combined class of '60 to '63, was a huge family reunion, held at Flood Park. Our class of '62 was the 1st class to finish the 1st 4 years when Ravenswood High 1st opened in l958 and was the best designed/built high school in the state of CA at the time.
