freda's Story
After six years, I believe I have settled in to being alone, though I will forever miss my dear husband. My second son and his wife graciously invited me to share their home and I have been with them for almost four years. Believe it or not, it does work. I have my own rooms and they laugh at me when after dinner I tell them "I am going home now; see you later" for I do like being alone and having the space to do my own projects. I have three rooms in their house to call my own, decorate as I please, and do my own thing. My office looks out French doors onto the swimming pool with lots of flowers in the spring and summer. I love greenery and have more than I should, indoors.
Thank goodness I still drive anywhere I want to go, never miss church, shop and visit. I feel very sorry for some of my friends who are shut in's, and try to call and send cards regularly. I talk on the phone a lot for my children and grand children...Expand for more
live from League City, TX to Austin, TX to Searcy, AR, to Atlanta, GA. to Maryville, TN, to NY City.
I still love to cross stitch, write stories, face book and am in the process of copying my fifty-eight albums of pictures to my computer. That way, when I'm in a better land, my children will not have to worry about what to do with so many books but can just go to their own computer and have them all. Toss the albums!
I think so much of those early years, from the nine years I went to Burbank and the three to Davis. Our mind sets do change and though I always enjoyed school and study and books and friends there, looking back it all seems like it was so much better. No worries except making the grade; lots of chatter and lots of laughter and lots of fun.
Repeat it? No. But it was a grand adventure and I wish I could see everyone, including teachers, again. In that perfect place, I will. What a gathering that will be!
