I met many wonderful people in high school. I had a wonderful time making trouble, avoiding schoolwork, and bothering faculty (as well as making music in band class). However, life and time have taught me the importance of humility, and I learned many things. I had a wonderful time in college. I enjoyed caving, hiking backpacking, snow skiing, reading, theater, classical music, culture, art, writing, computers and anything that kept me out of a classroom. I was eager to learn, but not a very good student. I took a year an a half off after studying geology for three years and came back to study writing. College taught me that failure is really a good chance to succeed. All you need to do is reorganize, and attack the obstacle again from a different angle. After college, I spent a year delivering pizza and tried not to leave Bloomington Indiana. It didn't work. I took a job with the railroad when I was twenty five and moved to northern Indiana.
