Frederick's Story

Life I'm married and living in CT with my wife who is a '87 grad from Central High, Springfield. We have 3 cats, 1 dog and weekends with my daughter from my first marriage. My daughter is quite like me, so she loves Nancy as well. I'm working as a programmer and my wife is a nurse. Nancy and I are quite a like when it comes to core values. She's the polished side of the diamond. Quiet, single tasker with a good and intelligent sense of humor. Me - multi-tasking and mouth in gear... We both believe in God.... We both liked the arcade at Foxwoods better than the casino... She likes to bake in the sun at the beach, while I like to body surf the waves.... We'll both join each other as well. The "now" picture is of Nancy and I Christmas 2004 at the Christmas tree in the Winter Garden at the Financial Center, New York. 2007 My 12 year old daughter is nearly as tall as I. I have been at Town Fair Tire for over 7 years... School I was on the year book staff(11&12), chess team(9-12), computer room staff(12), library(10) officially... AV unofficially.... I had too good of a time at the reunion (4.25 Alabama Slammers with SLAM!!..) Nancy was OK about the fact that I knew many people there and she stayed by my side most of the night (keeping me under control). College It took me 5 1/2 years (it was a 5 year program). The coop program helped a lot. Looking back I am glad that I took my father's advice and went for a coop program. I wished I was more outspoken - yes there were a few things I was shy about..... But then again I was in Computer Science - not Business - that meant classwork depended on getting computer access which was rather limited until I bought my Visual 102 from Janet O (thanks you saved my sanity....) Then I could work from home (Malden MA) without being bothered by the MiniTab users.... If I had to do it all again - I'd be more involved in more school activities, but I would still live off campus. Workplace Work has been interesting. 1984 A month at St Roses Terminal Cancer Center in New York. My mother's aunt was Sister Superior at the time. 1985 - Schwartz Parking - started wit...Expand for more
h them at Bay State West and worked for hem in Malden. 1986 - Started my time at Bay State Gas as a coop student, went part time, then full time. 1988 - Co-oped for the State of CT dept of Corrections. I'll let my daughter's boyfriend know that I've already been in the Big House.... 1988 - Co-oped at Aetna. My boss Jill was really cool. Most of the people there were OK, but some scared me - like their job was their life! I have liked most of my jobs, but there's way more to life than that! 1989 - DEC - Digital Equipment Corporation - Co-op couldn't get better then this! I commuted 90 miles one way, (thank God for flex time), worked many 10+ hour days and learned a lot. I was involved in evaluating a mid-night hacker's project which was not the job I interviews for at all! I brought the project to life and they hired someone full time to fill my position when I returedn to school. 1990 - Mass Electric Worcester MA - It was a good job. THe first task was code clean up and I learned there the difference between being a coder and a programmer. I learned a true appreciation for some of "those Classes" that I thought I could do without. 1991 - Bay State Gas - full time. 1993 - Bay State Gas strike - guess who got to do custermer service and shutoffs????? 1994 = Consulting........ 1994 - 1997 Cosmic Computers. Great comany, lousy commute. 1997 - 1997 Computer Hospital. - I envied Al Bundy. 1997 - 1999 Latex Foam Products - was a good company until the restructuring. My baby daughter and I practically lived at the factory. I learned a lot there. The place burnt to the ground in 2001. 1999 - 2000 Subway franchise headquarters. - I got a real taste of the corporate culture that I tried to avoid. I bailed the week all hell broke loose in my dept and 9 months before the founder pulled the plug on the project. 2000 - Present - Town Fair Tire - A good company that is run the old fashioned way. Most people have to work their way up the ladder, so almost everyone's hands have been dirty at one time. I was very impressed on how the owner handled the Firestone recall..... I am 40 now and there is always something new to learn...
