Frederick's Story
Life
I graduated from Upper Cape. I joined the Army after graduation and went in in November '84. I spent 3 years serving my country. This was during our skirmish with Khadafi. My unit came very close to deploying to visit him. I met my wife while I was in the Army and after 3 months we were married. We have been married for 21 years now and have 3 boys...15, 13 and 5. I left the Army in 87 and worked for an office machine company as a technician. I did this for a couple of years and then decided I needed to make lots of money. I went to work at Savannah River Site in S. Carolina. I worked there for 7 years. In 1990 my wife's dad passed away and it affected me strongly. My wife and I had been married for 5 years and only concentrated on work. We decided to start our family. We had our first 2 boys and then I changed jobs..I went back to the office machine company. ns I left were still there. I left the office machine company and went to work at Lucent Technologies. I have been a technician, project manager, and then a technician again. The business has changed a lot. I was laid-off in Jan '05. I had a part time business working as a home inspector. I am currently still inspecting homes, but also have a real estate license in Ga and SC. I am transitioning to only real estate. At 40, it is tough some days to get going, knowing you have to crawl around under houses all day. I try to spend as much time as I can with my family. I am no longer involved in politics. I had been appointed to several committees and hoped to run for the school board. I decided to give it all up and spend more time with the family and church. I am a deacon and work with the youth. I look at Classmates almost weekly and think of all my friends. I haven't seen some of you in 20 years or more, but know I have not forgotten you. I will see you all again, one day
