Frederick's Story
When I got out of school, I enrolled at Sandspur Tech, AKA Palm Beach Junior College. Wallowed through it for about a year, flunked out, got my draft notice. Luckily, I flunked that,too. My eyes were so bad that the army figured that anyone with eyes that bad shouldn't be given a gun.
I kinda drifted around doing menial jobs 'til I found a menial job that I liked. I went to work for Spreen Volkswagen and learned to be a mechanic. I was there for eight years, then worked as an A/C tech for about a year. In 1976 I went to work at Adam's VW as a mechanic. I got married and had a son. I was at Adam's for 15 years, during that time a got divorced, then remarried to my lovely wife, Mary. I did leave the VW shop for about 6 months and worked at the local Mercedes Benz dealer. r 15 years, got hurt, retired for a few months and then went back to work part time.
My family consists of my wife, Mary, our 18th year together. My son Bryan and his wife Yanni, My stepson John, his wife, Doneece, their 2 kids, Lovey and Thomas. I also have a stepdaughter Tami, who with her husband and three of their 5 girls live in Georgia. So, altogether, I have three kids, 7 grandkids and one greatgrand daughter.
My hobbies are woodworking (I've made some really cool stuff), and hot rodding. I have a 33 Ford coupe, fenderless, with a 350 Chevy and an automatic. I built it almost 10 years ago.Prior to building it, I built a 1947 Ford sedan, a 1935 Buick, and a 1927 Ford Model "T". Earlier, I had built a mess of hot VW"s.
Now I am semiretired. I work at the job in the morning, then come home around noon and piddle around here.
I am still living in Palm Beach County.
