Gail's Story
Life
I went to Duke, majored in English, married the man I decided in October of my freshman year I should marry (McNeill Gibson), did an MA in medieval studies at Duke, a Ph.D. in English at UVA, had a son and a daughter amid the note cards, taught for 8 years at Princeton, then, from 1983 to 2014, at Davidson College in North Carolina (where I was a medievalist in the English Department). Besides my now-grown children (Annie, who teaches Brazilian Studies at Tulane) and Josh (a filmmaker who teaches experimental film at Duke) and my beloved grandson (Kavi, "visionary poet" in Sanskrit; his mother Shambhavi Kaul, another Duke filmmaker, is Bombay born and bred), I love cooking, gardening, traveling, going to galleries and museums, photographing the birds on my balcony, and, especially and still, reading.
