Life
In short - "Still Crazy after all these Years." But......not as crazy as I was when I first wrote this a couple of years ago.
Upon leaving my former employer, Unisys Corporation (1980-2000,) I have devoted my time to my ongoing love of music. I remain involved as both a road musician, and whenever possible, studio musician. As of late 2009, studio work is rapidly replacing any road work as I am nearly "burnt out" on that. It's not as glamerous as many young/aspiring fellows might think. The $$ are fewer and it's getting very old. Two of the "big perks" in being a road musician are the virtually unlimited availability of booze and women - neither of which interest me much at all anymore.
I split my travel time between metro-Nashville TN and Austin TX as of late. A small SW Michigan town west of Kalamazoo, approximately 35 miles north of the Indiana border, remains home. I do have hopes of securing a second place in/around Austin TX before end-2010 so I can keep from freezing ...Expand for more
my behind off during the winter months and be closer to my favorite spot in the US of A; the Republic of Texas, that is.
I Have one child, a son Jared (born 1982,) resulting from my previous marriage to Colleen J. Hoover-Beam, also a former Haston/Crestwood attendee - Class of '69.
Was just thinking today, while remorsing over the loss of a ~6-figure~ income with Unisys some years ago, I'm still maintaining it !!
I just have to factor in the two integers to the right of the decimal place to come up with "6."
The moral to the story.........any 40-something reader who meanders here by accident or otherwise....enjoy your financial harvest now, while you can. Make sure you and your family have all the toys that you (and the banks) can afford. You never know when your employer is going to pull the plug on your party ! That is..........anyone, no matter how well they perform in their chosen profession can be shopping for a BMW one month, and if unprepared, writing IOUs the next.
