Gary's Story

Life My name is Gary Deyo in school I was known as Gary Bean. Where to begin?? I left Madras in 1989 and moved to Bend. There I worked as a night auditor for a hotel chain. After about 5 years, I moved to Montana to train into a GM position for Choice Hotels. I remainded there for 3 years and decided to move to Seattle and implement some of what I'd learned. I moved in-house and worked for a Choice Hotel downtown and continued my goal as a district manager for the international hotel chain. In 1998 I was offered a position as a Personal Shopper with Nordstrom. I decided to take the position and left Choice Hotels. This was the most fun I'd had ever had working. My profiles contained info on Maria Shriver, Oprah etc. I'm not really allowed to talk about the people I shopped for. While working for Nordstrom, I had to be to work by 4am and often left work by noon. Finding myself bored in the afternoons. I decided to start a small cleaning company. I've always loved cleaning, even as a child. Knowing this, I started a small cleaning company in Seattle called Cleaning Seattle, Inc. You can search for Cleaning Seattle Inc on the net and my cleaning site will come up. (: Anyway, I left Nordstrom in 2001 when they went online. They moved their entire online shopping to Iowa. I'm not into Iowa. LOL! So, a friend of mine told me that there was an opening at Microsoft as an administrative assistant; I jumped at the chance to be a paid employee for Microsoft. 6 months later I left. I didn't like working working there. I was paid $22.72 an hour and had great benefits, however when you work for people who give their souls for a company, you can't expect to always be met with a friendly smile and greeting. I had applied for a job with a Neurological firm in Bellevue, Washington several months later. I recieved a phone call and I was hired! As a file clerk. I thought that after Microsoft I needed a bit of a break and some alone time. I loved prep...Expand for more
aring files, x-rays and running to various firms collecting CT scans and MRI's. I worked in this position for about 6 months. During my 6th month, the Neurological firm I worked for decided to bring on another Neurologist to help take the heavy patient load off other physicians. When I met the new Neurologist, we clicked instantly; she was down to earth and had a very personable personality. We became friends and hung out after work etc. About 3 weeks later she approached me and asked if I had ever thought about becoming a medical assistant. The next thing I knew I was in school from 9-5 learning insurance codes and a lot of medical lingo. FIY: The brain and spine are actually very interesting. I learned a great deal from this job. I'd always worked for a companies where the people were there by choice; most people who came to the hotels I worked for, were there for pleasure. People who wanted to be at Nordstrom did so because they wanted to shop. Working in the medical field really opened my eyes and gave me new insight into other people and their fight for life. This all ended abruptly when the Neurologist I worked for decided to continue her education and become a Surgeon. So after 2 years, I had to say bye to a job I loved so much, mostly due to the wonderful person I worked for and the patients we helped. I'd been offered other positions in the medical field but turned them all down. I wanted to focus on me and my future. Since I'd put all my energy and extra money into this company I'd hoped would grow and become something I'd be proud of. I've been focusing on the cleaning company ever since and has been going strong for years now. I incorporated in 2003. My partner and I opened a French Cafe in 2004. We sold it in 2005 and moved to Switzerland where my partner is from. We currently live here in Switzerland and manage my business via internet and management staff.
