Gary's Story

Life I live in a suburb North of Atlanta, Georgia with my wife of 22 years and our three children. We've lived in Georgia for the past 12 years and enyoy the great weather, Southern hospitality and great cost of living. Prior to living in Georgia, we lived in Palm Harbor, Florida for two years. We spend most of our free time watching our kids play sports (Lacrosse, Volleyball and Wrestling), boating, traveling and gardening. We're also active in our community and support Northpoint Community Church, Safe House Atlanta Outreach and High Tech Ministries. College Under Grad - BS Criminal Justice, Northeastern University, 1983 Grad School - MS Management, Lesley University, 1994 Workplace Brooks curently serves as an independent marketing consultant and fractional Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) who helps early and mid-date companies overcome marketing and revenue challenges. Brooks has over 20 years experience providing leadership at both strategic and tactical levels, and developing and executing plans to align company vision, strategy and goals with measurable sales and marketing objectives and efficient processes to enable success. After 12 years with Digital Equipment Corporation where he served in a variety of marketing communication and product marketing leadership roles, Brooks was bitten by the start-up bug when he became part of a group of internet visionaries that started AltaVista which became the number one Internet search engine in 1997. eStorm, Servigistics and Bomgar Corporation. At Servigistics, Brooks executed company repositioning strategy that elevated Servigistics from the market underdog to the clear market leader. He deployed a unique, value-based sales and marketing process that enabled the company to rapidly scale revenue. He expanded the company's leadership position globally and accelerated the company¿s growth through non-traditional marketing approaches, marketing accountability, and by aligning sales and marketing objectives. At TRADEX, he developed and executed the strategic market positioning that led to the company's acquisition by Ariba for $5.6 billion in Ariba stock. At Servigistics, Brooks re-engineered the company's sales and marketing process which significantly accelerated revenue which led to the recent sale of the company. He holds a bachelor's degree from Northeastern University, a master's degree from Lesley University, and is a retired United States Army Reserve Officer. In 2006, The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) named Brooks Georgia's "Technology Marketing Executive of the Year." Brooks is a co-founder of the Atlanta Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Round Table, Chairman of the Brooks Family Foundation and Sales and Marketing Executive International (SMEI) board member. He has also served on boards for the Barnwell School Foundation, Robert Ferst Center for the Arts, MarketPro, DWL, Performance Public Relations and Abovo Marketing. A classic car and boat enthusiast, die hard do-it-yourselfer, active Christian ministries volunteer and philanthropist, Brooks, his wife, their daughter and two sons live in Milton, Georgia.
