Gary's Story

Graduated from UMich. Lived in the Seattle area for 20 years, and now living in Jacksonville Fla. I'm a remote worker for Microsoft, principal software development engineer on Windows audio and MIDI. If you’ve used Windows 10 or 11 to listen to music or watch a video, you’re running my software. :) I’m the architect for Windows MIDI services and drivers for MIDI 2.0 support, used by pro audio music creators. Recently covered in various news articles and the keynote at the Qualcomm summit. I created the infrastructure for merging the bluetooth hands free and a2...Expand for more
dp profiles into a single audio endpoint. The feature was covered in an article on the verge titled "The next big Windows 10 update improves Bluetooth audio with AAC support". I wrote the code that enables hardware keyword spotting for both Cortana and Alexa assistants on Windows, allowing for two or more assistants to run simultaneously. I also created the algorithm which manages the default audio endpoint in windows, which learns preferences as you select using the speaker icon in the tray. Married with three children, two sons and a daughter, ages 10 to 17.
