College I went to Foothill and DeAnza like a lot of us did. I had some issues with my folks divorcing during my first year at Foothill, so I did not accomplish what I needed to do to set my education in motion. My second year was pathetic. My father died in a freak sailing accident and I decided to drop out for a year. I moved to San Jose and went to SJ City College. Took a few courses and was hired by the Sheriff's Office. I went to Gavilan College for the Police Academy. No further education until I got hired by IBM. I ended up taking classes at Mission College as well as Internal classes. Education is an ongoing process with me now. Workplace After graduating from Awalt, I worked the Great America for two seasons. Finding out that there is another world outside of the amusement park career, I went to work for the Sheriff's office for 3 years, until Proposition 13, and discovered what unemployment was all about. I landed a security job at Lockheed and became a supervisor in six months. After a couple of years, I got bored and decided to work part time as an EMT. With my background in emergencies services, I applied and slid over to IBM, San Jose. I worked at and for IBM doing Facility protection (Fancy title for Security/Fire/EMS). After 2 1/2 years, IBM started to have employee cutbacks and I tested for the position of Customer Engineer (Typewriter repairman). One catch, the job was in New York. So, in 1987, needing a change, packed up and moved to Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Croton is approximately 45 miles from the heart of NYC. After 2 1/2 years, I graduated from typewriters and started on computer repairs. I became a Support Engineer after 5 years. I worked as a Support Engineer for 12 years.
