My folks pulled the plug on Wazzu gig after realizing that I wasn't putting forth much effort for their dollars my freshman year in Pullman. I spent the next year living on Camano Island, got my act together, and received an AA from Skagit Valley College. The next two years were spent at Central Washington State College where I roomed with Mark Rosin and Keith Johnson, fellow 1972 Sammamish graduates. Insanely, all three of us got our degrees in education from Central. Mark made it to Longview and Keith to Granite Falls. My teaching career has found me only at the elementary level. In my 32+ years of teaching I have worked in only the Clarkston, WA (2 years) and Kent, WA (30+ years) school districts. I love what I do. Yes, vacations are nice!
