Gary's Story
Life
Life has been nothing if not eventfull. After Grand Blanc went to Albion to College. Worked as Pizza guy and then bartender. Moved to Miami Beach Fl became a technician for a mechanical bird act in a show called Star Spangled Bang Bang in the Boom Boom Room of the Fountainbleau Hotel. In 75 married in Miami to a girl from Albion. Became stage manager for show, then production stage manager for hotel. Next was 7 bars and clubs managed at Castaways in North Miami Beach. Moved back to Albion, started a family 2 girls 1 in 81 and 1 in 85. Went to work in telecommunications. Served on City Council. In 90 promoted to VP and transfered to Lambertville MI. In 94 went into real estate business. In 98 divorced and moved to Battle Creek to work for telephone company. In 99 married again, two step sons and a new daughter. This year divorced again and promoted to VP at work. Today, living and loving it.
School
Grand Blanc High School, what a time. Fun, friends, and craziness with little to no responsibility. Swim team, swim team cheerleaders, Reid Road Recreational Center, and various other extra curricular activities meant a busy time. Then there was German and Chemistry with Mr. Burget. I was never so facinated with ...Expand for more
English until Miss Wiltse. These are but a few of the many memories that I would not trade.
College
Albion College, liberal arts, social freedoms, anti war, pro environment, religion courses, psychology, pre law, swim team, partying, and partying no wonder it is a bit hazy. Coach Wickstrom most famous quotes, "If your always early you will never be late" and "If you swim fast you will swim fast". Inspiration at its finest. The girl friend back home. The part time jobs that became full time with leaving Albion College. Still no excuses for a good time.
Workplace
Telecommunications sales and management has been very good to me. I left the telecommunications industry, but it called me back. From a small company salesman, to a mid size company salesman, sales and service manager, and finally Vice President of Operations. Sold like cattle, I left the industry to pursue a real estate carreer. Although successfull, the telephone industry called again and in 98 I returned as a project manager for CTS telecom, moved up to Plant Supervisor, and now am Vice President of Operations. Still working with a number of ALLTEL people, and those that I am not I do miss. As I said, the telephone business has been very very good to me.
