Gary's Story

Life What can I say? So much has happened over the past 20+ years. Though many days have past full of the trials and tribulations that come with growing up there have been many more days filled the joys and excitement that keeps one young. Our biggest joys are our son (6) and daughter (9 mo.), my angels. I'’ve now gained a deeper appreciation for my mother and all that she must have gone through raising my brothers and me. Gabriel has my sense of humor and it drives his mother crazy. Little Ella Rebekah's smile lights up the house and the two of them fill it with laughter. With all life's imperfections I would no’t have him any other way. In the time before becoming parents we were fortunate to have traveled and experienced living in Washington, DC and Norway. In 1996, we moved to NYC living there until the fall of 2003. After our son was born we found the challenge of getting around with a stroller, forcing our way through crowded city streets and subway platforms a bit too much to bare. We also longed for the days when we were able to walk...Expand for more
out the front door to get outside without having to wait for the elevator, the days when we didn’t have to use a ticket or a keycard to get in and out of the garage. Finally, after being stuck 20 floors up with no AC on a hot summer day that turned into a night lit up by a burning generator on top of a nearby building during a blackout we made up our minds. We left the city and all that it had to offer and moved to Norfolk, Virginia ending up there the day before hurricane Isabel hit. After that it was weekend barbecues, morning golf, and bedtime stories. In May 0f '06 we packed up, sold the house and made one last trip to Tahoe before moving abroad. Now the bedtime stories are only sometimes in English, we still have the barbecues, but morning golf is out...for now. On the otherhand I get to drink my morning and evening coffee looking out over an amazing fjord in Norway. It is tough, but it gets easier when the nights actually start getting dark again. The day is filled with strollers, car seats, travel cots, and million other baby things.
