Gary's Story
Life
Thanks for visiting with me.
I finally got to college (Michigan Christian / now Rochester College) in '63, where I met my then future wife, Nancy. We married in '65. I went on to WMU on a voice scholarship. It was there that I found an opportunity to do so much more. Campus ministry entered my sights, and it was there that a career blossomed. In '74, we were blessed by the adoption of our first child, Phillip. We then moved to Purdue University, and eventually on to Oklahoma State in Stillwater, OK. (the REAL O.S.U. [:-~ ])
After our second child, Kimberly, came along, I "retired" from campus work (so that I could actually spend time with family instead of full-time plus with the students) and began my career with Xerox Corp. In 2004, I retired. (...at least formally.)
In 1995, during my stint with the "Big X" I found yet another opportunity for service - this time in outreach to Russia. The initial effort was via Bible studies. In the next few years, my emphasis changed to that of assisting children's hospitals and orphanages in both the Siberian region of Russia and the coal-mining region of Ukraine. As of March, 2007...Expand for more
, I had the privilege of serving as a "Native American English Speaker" at two universities in Barnaul. I worked with both students and teachers, honing their pronunciation and grammar skills. I also tutored just to bring in a few extra rubles. Needless to say, it kept me young and quite busy.
I now reside in the Atlanta (GA) suburb of Canton. (Just east, off I-75 and I-575.) I travel to Russia- and have lived there during the school year. My two 'kids' live in northern California and nearby Atlanta.
I count the friendships and relationships made through the years as real blessings. You are welcome to contact me via xxx (at) gmail.com" (hopefully a long-term email address.) I am known there as "barnaultutor": (a hint of my actual email address, 'cause you cannot actually list such information on "Classmates.)
May God bless you as he has my family and me!!
"...being used before I'm used up."
Retirement merely frees us to do something constructive to leave behind as a legacy, whether it be with our grandchildren or in some outreach to build up and encourage others. Even today, there's STILL time to make a difference.
