Gary's Story
My life in a nutshell. Graduated from Warren Central in '94. Married Christa Pfeiffer in June '96. Joined the USAF in November '97. Loved it, but had to leave it. My son Ray was born at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Tx on January 8th 1999. Separated from the Air Force in '01. My other son Jacob was born on December 12th, 2002, in Indianapolis, IN. June 2002, I started working for Miller-Eads and began my apprenticeship in the IBEW. Life was good.
January 2004, Ray was diagnosed with Leukemia. February 2004, Ray is finally in remission. February 2005, the cancer comes back. We decide to go with a bone marrow transplant. June 2005, Ray receives full body radiation and is admitted to Riley Children's Hospital for his bone marrow transplant. August 2005, we finally come h...Expand for more
ome from Riley. October 2005, we receive news that Ray's cancer has returned yet again and this time there is nothing left they can do for him. November 2005, we take Ray on his wish trip to Disney World. It was the greatest time of our lives. January '06, Ray celebrates his 7th birthday. Unfortunately, it would be his last birthday. Apirl 24th, Ray is admitted into Riley Children's Hospital for several reason including difficulty breathing. He has to be put on oxygen. He never makes it home. Apirl 29th, 2006, 10:14 am, Ray opens his eyes, whispers to all of us surrounding his bed "I love you", and takes his final breath. He now resides in Heaven. I can't wait to see him again.
May 2007, I pass my Journeyman's test and complete my apprenticeship. And life goes on...
