Gary's Story
Life
I moved to VA Beach 5 years ago. I survived throat cancer, which occurred despite my never having smoked in my life. I am President of two biotech companies and my own consulting group. I coach a youth soccer team. I get back to Chicago a lot. My oldest daughter is in college, is married with a new baby. My middle daughter just got her GED as a home schooled JR in HS. My son is a soccer jock and was just named athlete of the week in 8th grade.
Workplace
As President and CEO of Arkios BioDevelopment, Dr. Pekoe has almost 20 years experience in clinical product development. He planned and directed the successful (NDA) clinical development of Bactroban® for Beecham Laboratories. ologics, a start-up biopharmaceutical company. He directed a number of vaccine and source plasma development programs at Univax, and wrote the recently approved PLA for WinRho SD®. Dr. Pekoe has been involved in all aspects of the clinical trial process including but not limited to: strategic planning, protocol development, investigator recruitment, clinical trial management, regulatory documentation, and FDA conferencing. Additionally, Dr. Pekoe has been principal or subinvestigator for over 300 studies. Dr. Pekoe has a thorough and practical understanding of the clinical development process and the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. In addition, Dr. Pekoe has been a successful entrepreneur for the past 10 years, including developing a clinical trials model that has been widely imitated in this industry.
