Gary's Story
I was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico, May 18, 1951. We came to San Diego, California about 1956. After graduating from James Madison High School in 1969, I started going to San Diego Mesa College. In 1970, I got a part time job at the Levitz Furniture Store on Morena Blvd. I started losing interest in school because I finished taking most of the classes that interested me, such as math, science and engineering. ildren all born between 1975 and 1980. In 1977, I was accepted into the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, IBEW. I went through a 4 year apprenticeship attending San Diego City College at night and working full time during the day. After graduating in 1981, I went to work for Chula Vista Electric Company for 27 years. I was able to retire on April 1, 2008. We have been living in the community of Tierrasanta in San Diego since 1974. We are planning to move to East Texas to be closer to one of our daughters and grandchildren and get away from the crowded city.
