Gary Worry:  

My name is Gary Worry. I graduated from Belle Vernon Area High School in 1969. In December of 1972, I completed my B. S. in Chemistry from the Pennsylvania State University. In April of 1977, I completed my PhD in Chemical Physics at the University of Illinois in Urbana. My thesis was theoretical in nature and dealt with determining the reaction rates for molecular beam experiments. I also extended Marcus Theory of electron transfer reactions in condensed media to include ionic effects using integral equation methods of modern statistical mechanics. My thesis advisor was Professor Rudolph Marcus, 1992 Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry. My work after graduate school has been mostly in the paper industry. I worked in R&D organizations for the following companies: Union Camp Corporation, Scott Paper Company and James River Corporation which became Fort James Corporation in 1997. Fort James Corporation was purchased by Georgia-Pacific Corporation in 2000. Georgia-Pacific Corporation was eventually purchased by Koch Industries in 2005. My work in these organizations dealt with developing new and improved paper towel and tissue products. I have an in depth knowledge of both product and process development as related to towel and tissue products; I'm an expert in patent literature. I also hold about 15 or so patents.
