Gayle's Story
Life
I am married with 3 children (1 Boy & 2 girls) 5 grand children ( 2 boys and 3 girls) and1 great grandson. I got married & I went to beautiy school after I got out of school. I had 2 children , I went to Mott community college and studied Horse Management, I raised, trained and boarded horses for years. I barrel raced and showed western pleasure, and halter, I also played cowboy polo in the winter, went camping and trail riding, cow catching. After 20 years I divorced a very abussive man. I met my husband and we have been together for 23 yrs. we have a daughter together that is 21 yrs. old and has a beautiful little girl of her own. I gave up a office job so I could spend more time with her when she was still in school, It was the best decision I ever made. There was a huge difference in the pay, but the rewards were so much better. I was her brownie leader, then I was her cheerleading coach for years, then I drove a school bus and substitue taught everyday. A lot of the kids at the school called me Mom and I loved it. My daughter loved me being there with her and so did I. She graduated in 2009 with her CNA. We live in New London North Carolina (a little town) but we live way out in the country on 6 acres of land, at the base of a mountain, we have 2 ponds and 2 creeks on our property. I have a lot of animals. A horse, Deer(he's blind), goat, 3 dogs, 7 cats, 3ducks, 6 geese,a peacock, 3 very large iguans, 7 box turtles, a praire dog, 6 sugar glidders, a parrot, and 2 cockitiels, I take in animal rescues, and I also rescue raptors and then release them once they have been healed and are ready to go back out into the...Expand for more
world again.. I love to travel, we have been to several countries, our favorite is still Peurto Rico, we walked 8 miles down a mountain through a rain forest. I am the queen of my Red Hat chapter ( The South Davidson Strutting Peacocks) I have met a lot of wonderful people through this organization. I have traveled to Tennessee to a convention, and to Virginia to help celebrate Elvis's 70th. birthday( there was 1300 red hatters there) it was so awsome. Last January I went on a Red Hat cruise to the western carribean. I am married to a wonderful man that allows me to go an lets me be myself. We enjoy spending time with our family and friends. I wish everyone could be as lucky as I am. I think about the friends I had in school and wonder where they are now and what they are doing. Maybe someday we will have a reunion and we will be able to see each other again.
I love to go to pow wows and dance with my youngest grandchild. Everytime I go, it makes me think I am stepping back in time. I love the fact that I am Native American(Chippewa) and I have been learning everything I can about my heritage, which I think everyone should find out about their background. I take the girl that I have mentored for the last eightyears, because she is doing her senior project on what it means to her to be native american.
October 13, 2008 we had a new addition to our family, her name is Madison, she is the joy of our lives. the baby pictures are of her. We had another new addition this year on July 21 2010, my great grandson was born Michael Ray Niver. I love all my children, grandchildren and great grandson. I feel extremly blessed in my life.
