Gayle's Story
Update: So now it's been 55 years. That really seems impossible. A lot has happened in my life in the past 15 years as I'm sure it has in everyone else's. My older sister, Alice (RCHS '57) died in 2005, then, at the age of 97, my mother (Clara BANGS Lobdell RCHS 1930) died in 2009. My younger sister, Linda (RCHS "61) moved back to Montana to be near her sons. My brother, Donn (RCHS '54) has moved a time or two. He now lives in the Bay Area of CA with his wife, Carole (PICKERT, RCHS '57). My granddaughter is all grown up and has a little boy of her own. And, of course, great-grandson, Cullen, is the joy of my life. We are compatible, what more can I say. My daughter, Shannon, who is my rock, is working in a good job with a good boss and she has a nice boyfriend, so she's happy. Granddaughter, Ally, has a job she enjoys and her son to keep her busy. ffords me. I spend a lot of it with Cullen and the rest of my time is on my computer, or lunch with friends, or whatever I want. First time in years I can say that most of my time is my own -- and the rest is Cullen's.
Wow! Can it really be 40 years? It went by so fast. During that time, I was married (twice), had a daughter who has had a daughter. My granddaughter is almost 16. I went to college when my daughter was two (1968) and received my bachelors degree in computer science and accounting. I have worked as a programmer/analyst since then with a couple of detours into EDP manager and office manager positions. Currently I work for Dell Computer Corp. in Austin, TX. Many of my family members (mother, daugher, granddaugher and both sisters) have come here during the past 10 years. I'd love to hear from anyone from RCHS - even if we didn't know each other then, we can probably conjure up some mutual acquaintances.
