Gayle's Story
My story:
Although I graduated from White Plains High in New York, I spent my
first two years of high school at Chester and have always remembered
my friends and classmates there, especially since many of us had also
been together at Green Ridge Elementary in Aston Township.
After high school, I received my B.A. in English literature from Brown
and an M.A.T. in secondary English from Harvard. Besides teaching, I've
worked in several other fields, including photography, restaurant
management, and journalism. But most important in my life has been my family - my wonderful husband of 42 years, Byron Petrakis, and our children, Cassandra, 37, and Jason, 29. We moved to southern New Hampshire in 1982, after a number of years...Expand for more
in Kentucky and North Carolina. Byron recently retired from his position as dean of Chester College of New England but continues part time as dean of students and professor of literature and humanities. For the past year, I've been happily "retired" and busy with my other interests - photography, travel and hiking, reading, writing, music, and genealogy. We have a tiny bit of ancestral property in Greece and entertain fantasies of retiring
there, where I've been involved in a fascinating search for my relatives and family history. This amazing and touching story is the one I'd really like to be able to tell someday!
