Gayle's Story
School
Without a doubt, St. Joseph's Montessori holds a very, very special place in my heart. What I remember most are my friends, so many of them lifelong friends now. I would love to reunite with those friends with whom IÂve lost touch, and this is a great way to do that. I remember buying lunches from Charlie, who cooked them in a bus that was retrofitted with a stove (what was THAT about?) and I remember playing RCK on a field that seemed SO big then, but is a tiny little parking lot these days. And I canÂt pass by an ad for Fanta soda and not think of St. Joseph's.
I also have fond memories of Mount St. Ursula, mainly of the wonderful friends I made there - like...Expand for more
Maggie Reilly-Brooks. We met on the first day of freshman year,as we wandered the hallways looking for our English class. And now, some 20 years later, she's still my buddy.
Fordham was fine and the few friends that I remain in touch with from there are still precious. Columbia includes many work acquaintances, but there are at least three classmates who remain quite dear to me beyond the confines of journalism.
Workplace
I have primarily been a full-time newspaper journalist since completing graduate school. I have worked at newspapers in Conn., Mass. and NY. I took a three-year break and worked in public relations, but missed journalism and happily returned.
