Gene's Story
Life
My wife Kathy and I reside in Harrison, Ohio. We met at BurgundyÂs in Clifton and have been married since 1989! Kathy is an X-ray tech at University Hospital. We have an awesome son named Alex who, with a little help from invitro-fertilization, was born in 1999. (He is a Stud Monkey!) In 1990 I graduated from U.C. and became a teacher. Since then, I have taught fourth grade at Elizabethtown Elementary in the Southwest Local School District. In 2005, I received my Master's degree in teaching.
I am also a coach. I started coaching wrestling at North Jr. High my first year out of high school. For the next 8 years, I coached wrestling at Mt. Healthy and eventually the Harrison freshman team. me, I started coaching Junior Olympic Volleyball for Borderline. Eventually I gained the confidence to move up to the varsity position at Franklin County High School in Brookville, Indiana. In my first season, we went 27-5, set a school record for wins, recorded our first ever Sectional Championship, and finished in the ÂFinal 8Â of the state tournament! I am proud that I was named Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. In 2001, my team recorded another 20 wins and won our second straight sectional title and finished in the "Sweet 16". In 2002 I returned "home" to Harrison High School to be the assistant varsity coach.
Because of my coaching, my family is huge volleyball fanatics. In our "spare" time, we like to go to Brookville Lake where we go boating, ride our Wave Runner, or get muddy on the quad.
