Geoffrey's Story
Life
Moved to Seattle, worked in aviation, retired, and went to culinary school to become a chef. Ok, that was the really short version.
After high school I went to work for Piedmont Aviation at the airport in Winston-Salem, and attended school for electronics maintenance and repair. I moved up in the company and became an avionics tech; (the person that fixes radios in airplanes).
I meet a girl who also worked at the airport, as a ticket agent. She left aviation to work for Fed Ex. We lived together for five years in Winston-Salem and traveled the world, which brought us to Seattle.
Ok, now the fun part. I bought a brand new car and quit my job. We sold everything, packed the car and drove to Seattle. She got a job transfer with Fed Ex which made it a little easier. This all happened in 1991, November to be exact. I never knew it rained so much in one place.
We lived in a hotel for about 2 weeks untill I got my first job. I went to work for Flightcraft Inc. as an avionics tech.
Within in six months we saw Pearl Jam for free at Magnusun park, it was awesome. Within the first year we bought a house and three months later my shop closed and I was looking for a new job; car payment, a...Expand for more
nd house payment no problem.
I went to work for American Avionics Inc. on the same airport. This turned out to be a blessing and a curse. I traveled for them to complete aircraft repairs and new avionics installs. This took me to places such as Alaska, Las Vegas, and California. The curse came in 1996 when I was 31, in the form of a young and beautiful 21 year old. I ended my ten year relationship.
I broke a very important rule: Never date anybody you work with. Oh, come on try to see my side, I wasn't married, at the top of my game. I thought I was invincible. Well this turned out to be a good thing.
I left American Avionics and went to work for the Boeing Co. as a flightline avionics tech, working on 737 and 757 aircraft. More to come late. Stay tune, then 9/11 happened and ended that job. I took a couple years off. I attended South Seattle Community College with a degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Management. I work for a few companies and bought a restaurant. THE FIVE STAR DINNER. That was fun for five years, sold the business January 2014. Today I'm managing a restaurant for Bass Pro Shop called, Uncle Bucks Fish Bowl in Tacoma Washington. The story is still being written.
